The naming ceremony of the “Ho Tak Sum Multipurpose Room” was held at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on 24 March 2018 (Saturday), in recognition of the generous support of Mr Ho Tak Sum, Managing Director of Pong Tak Realty Co., Ltd., given to EdUHK.

Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, EdUHK President, thanked Mr Ho Tak Sum for his full support and acknowledgement of the University’s commitment to nurturing students to become quality teachers.  Professor Cheung pointed out, “In addition to receiving government funding and conducting academic programmes in various disciplines, there is a need for EdUHK to pool the strengths of all philanthropists and raise funds for promoting student activities and development at the University.  I am very grateful to Mr Ho Tak Sum for his generosity in assisting sustainable development at the University.”

Mr Ho Tak Sum said, “EdUHK, being committed to nurturing talents and shouldering the important mission of training local teachers, has promoted the development of education in Hong Kong.  Graduates from EdUHK will become teachers and play a role in passing on the torch, in passing on knowledge, attitude to life and values ​​to the next generations. An educator ‘cannot but be broad-minded and resolute’. His burden is heavy and his course is long. I believe EdUHK, in its support for the long-term development of education in Hong Kong, will continue to cultivate proactive school leaders and teaching teams who are in pursuit of excellence in the provision of quality education for prospective teachers and the new generations to come.”

In recognition of Mr Ho’s generous donation to The Education University of Hong Kong Foundation to assist its long-term development and continuous efforts in nurturing talents for the community and the education sector, the University has specially named an activity room on the campus as “Ho Tak Sum Multipurpose Room”.
