On 13 May 2016, the Student Affairs Office hosted an event named “Fly Up High”, during which the President’s Commendation Scheme Awards were presented and students’ academic excellence was recognised. Thank-you cards designed by one of the recipients were presented to the donors during the event.
With the staunch support of donors, over 800 scholarships with a total value of about $18 million were awarded this year – a record high in terms of number and total amount since the Institute’s establishment in 1994.
Officiating at the event, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, HKIEd President, said he was most impressed by the students’ extraordinary achievements. Under the whole person development framework, the Institute offers co-curricular learning courses that introduce co-curricular elements into traditional classroom learning, with the aim of broadening students’ scope of thought and achieving experienced-based learning objectives. He added: “The Institute has all along placed strong emphasis on priming our students to maximize both their academic knowledge and non-formal learning experience. The awardees’ achievements have successfully showcased HKIEd students’ dedication to our society and the pursuit of ideals.”
