The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received donations from the Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation, Hung Hom (Three Districts) Kaifong Association and Venture Global Limited, who generously provided a total amount of HK$400,000.

The cheque presentation ceremony on 27 September 2022 was attended by Chairman of Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of Venture Global Limited Mr Adam Chow, Officer of the Charity Division of Shang Sin Chun Tong Dr Natalie Fong, Vice President Mr Danny Kok and Committee Member Ms Wan Shau-ling of Hung Hom (Three Districts) Kaifong Association, Founder and Executive Director of Principal Chan Free Tutorial World Principal Chan Hung, and EdUHK staff. Professor Bruce Macfarlane, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Human Development, extended sincere gratitude for their charitable support and accepted the donation cheques on behalf of EdUHK. The guests also visited the Future Classrooms in Mong Man Wai Library, where new equipment and e-learning technologies were showcased.

This project is led by Dr Kevin Yung Wai-ho, Associate Professor of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. In phase I of the project, an online learning platform was developed in partnership with Principal Chan Free Tutorial World in order to help students from economically disadvantaged families. Currently, in phase II and building upon the established partnership, the project will study self-regulated online learning in shadow education with a focus on underprivileged students who receive fee-free supplementary tutoring in Hong Kong.
