The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) received a generous donation of HK$750,000 from Datality Lab Limited in support of the Innovative Education Research Centre for Special Education in the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The cheque presentation ceremony on 11 October 2022 was attended by the Founder and Managing Director Mr Roland Leung and Senior Marketing Scientist Ms Makiyo Chow of Datality Lab Limited. Dr Kevin Yuen Chi-pun, Director of the Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL), extended sincere gratitude for their charitable support and accepted the donation cheque on behalf of EdUHK. Both parties expressed excitement on possible future collaborations. The guests also visited the Future Classrooms in Mong Man Wai Library, where new equipment and e-learning technologies were showcased.
The project is led by Prof Leung Chi-hung, Co-director of I-WELL. It aims to develop an Innovative Education Research Centre in the GBA to collect data and embed AI technology to improve assessment and training services targeting children with special needs, their teachers and parents. This will bring social impact on the localisation of psychological and educational instruments in the GBA, as well as align special education in Hong Kong with the GBA.
